Beschrijving voorzijde A draped allegorical female figure, evoking a classical sea deity or nymph, is depicted seated in the left foreground amid rocks and water, her gaze directed to the left. Behind her rises a tall flaming torch on a pole, flanked in the middle ground by a lighthouse tower. To the right, a large fully-rigged sailing ship is shown underway on open water. Beschrijving keerzijde A dynamic equestrian scene occupies the central field, depicting a jockey mounted on a galloping horse rendered in high relief, evoking the equestrian events of the Barcelona Games. The circular legend, rendered in a classical epigraphic style, reads ALBANIA - JUEGOS DE LA along the upper and left periphery, with the year 1992 inscribed at the top within the legend, and XXV OLIMPIADA BARCELONA continuing along the lower and right rim. The design references the 25th Olympiad held in Barcelona in 1992.

Aanvullende informatie

Albania's commemorative program of the early 1990s emerged from one of the most abrupt political transitions in postwar Europe — the country had been among the last Stalinist holdouts, with private coin collecting effectively illegal under Hoxha's regime until 1990. The 1991-dated Barcelona Olympics issues were among the first Albanian coins produced explicitly for the international numismatic market, minted before the country had even stabilized its own currency system.

KM#68 is part of a paired silver issue alongside KM#67, both released ahead of the 1992 Games.
