The "Solemn Year" designation tied this issue to a Romanian Patriarchate proclamation, not a civil calendar event.
This aluminium trial piece predates the final approved striking, making it a production artifact rather than a circulating or collector coin in the conventional sense. Trial strikes in aluminium were used by the Romanian Mint to assess die alignment and relief depth before committing to the specified final metal.
