Reverse description The denomination '10' appears prominently in the upper centre of the field, surmounted by the imperial crown. Below, the Cyrillic legend 'КОПѢЕКЪ' is inscribed across the centre, separated from the mint mark 'С.П.Б.' by a horizontal rule. The entire design is framed by a wreath composed of laurel to the left and oak to the right, tied at the base with a ribbon bow, with a beaded border encircling the rim.

The transition in mint mark on this type — from СПБ to СПБ/ФГ and through several assayer initial combinations — has made die variety attribution a minor specialty in Russian imperial coinage. The reign change from Aleksandr I to Nikolai I in December 1825 produced no design interruption whatsoever; Nikolai simply continued the existing type while the Decembrist uprising he had just suppressed was still being tried in the courts.
