Above the gate, the semicircular inscription ГЕТМАНСЬКА СТОЛИЦЯ (Hetman's Capital) arcs across the upper field, beneath which the coat of arms of Hlukhiv is displayed. Four portrait medallions of notable Hetmans are arranged below the coat of arms, each identified by inscriptions: ІВАН / СКОРОПАДСЬКИЙ, ПАВЛО / ПОЛУБОТОК, ДАНИЛО / АПОСТОЛ, and КИРИЛО / РОЗУМОВСЬКИЙ.
