Reverse description The reverse presents a richly detailed scene inspired by Ukrainian Christmas folk tradition, executed in the vytynanky paper-cutting artistic style with blue enamel color applied throughout. Four figures in traditional Ukrainian festive dress — two male carolers to the left and two female figures to the right — are depicted facing inward around a central stylized fir tree, evoking the custom of kolyadky (Christmas caroling). Above the tree, a gilded eight-pointed star incorporating the tryzub symbol radiates sunburst rays, rendered in yellow and gold enamel as the focal decorative element. The entire central composition is enclosed within a broad blue enamel ring border that frames the field. No legends or inscriptions appear on the reverse.

Additional information

Ukraine has issued annual Christmas-themed silver collector coins for decades, but the 2025 issue arrives during the third consecutive wartime holiday season following Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022. The National Bank of Ukraine has continued its commemorative program throughout the conflict, partly as a deliberate assertion of cultural continuity — civilian minting infrastructure kept operational while the country remains under active attack.

Local gilding on the .925 silver flan is applied selectively at the Kyiv mint rather than outsourced, a distinction the NBU has maintained as a point of domestic production integrity.
