| 正面描述 | The obverse features the Ukrainian trident coat of arms (tryzub) displayed within a shield at the top center of the field, flanked by an ornate decorative wreath composed of flora and fauna native to Ukraine, including oak branches with acorns, viburnum berries, thistle, and wild roses. A small bird perches on the left side of the wreath, and a butterfly appears among the foliage on the right. The Cyrillic inscription УКРАЇНА arcs across the upper central field beneath the shield, with the denomination 10 ГРИВЕНЬ centered below. The silver fineness notation Ag 925 and the weight indicator 31.1 appear to either side of the numeral, and the date 1999 is inscribed at the base of the design. |

Ukraine's early commemorative silver program in the late 1990s drew heavily on native flora and fauna under pressure from conservation lobbying, and the Butterfly Orchid — Anacamptis papilionacea, listed in Ukraine's Red Book of endangered species — was among the first plant subjects approved. The National Bank launched the series partly to raise international profile during a period when the hryvnia itself, introduced only in 1996, was still establishing credibility as a post-Soviet currency.
