Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse depicts a highly detailed, naturalistic rendering of the lesser butterfly orchid (Platanthera bifolia), with a large, prominently rendered single flower occupying the center and right of the field, its petals and labellum rendered in fine sculptural relief. To the left, a full flowering spike of the same species is shown with multiple smaller blooms and the characteristic paired basal leaves at the base of the stem. The Cyrillic inscription ЛЮБКА ДВОЛИСТА arcs along the upper border of the field, while the Latin binomial PLATANTHERA BIFOLIA follows the lower border, together identifying the protected species depicted.

Aanvullende informatie

Ukraine's early commemorative silver program in the late 1990s drew heavily on native flora and fauna under pressure from conservation lobbying, and the Butterfly Orchid — Anacamptis papilionacea, listed in Ukraine's Red Book of endangered species — was among the first plant subjects approved. The National Bank launched the series partly to raise international profile during a period when the hryvnia itself, introduced only in 1996, was still establishing credibility as a post-Soviet currency.
