| Beschrijving keerzijde | Printed in ochre-tan on plain paper, the reverse is entirely typographic, enclosed within a simple wavy-line border rectangle. The denomination and title 'Gutschein' are set in large Gothic script at top, followed by the abbreviated issuer name and a multi-line legal text in smaller Gothic type guaranteeing redemption in lawful currency and the existence of a reserve fund, closing with the validity date and an anti-counterfeiting warning. |

Steinakirchen am Forst is a small market town in Lower Austria, and this 10 Heller note belongs to the vast wave of Notgeld issued by Austrian municipalities between 1919 and 1921 when small-denomination coinage had effectively vanished from circulation. The imperial coinage system had collapsed with the Habsburgs, and the new Austrian state was in no position to mint fractional coin quickly enough to meet everyday transactional needs — so thousands of communes, down to the village level, printed their own.
Most Lower Austrian Notgeld of this period was produced in very short runs and redeemed locally within months, making surviving examples disproportionately scarce relative to their original quantities.
