Dezember 1920 Gültigkeit, sind unverzinslich und werden im Monate Dezember 1920 im Gemeindeamte Schönbichl, polit. Bezirk Amstetten, in gesetzl. Bargeld eingelöst. Schönbichl is a small municipality in Lower Austria, and this note is a Notgeld issue — emergency municipal currency printed during the acute coin shortage that followed Austria's defeat in the First World War. By 1921 the worst of the Notgeld wave had already crested, making late issues like this one less common than the flood of 1920 production. Three signatories authenticated it: the Bürgermeister, his deputy, and a single Gemeinderat, which was the minimum quorum most Lower Austrian parishes used for binding financial instruments.
