| Opmerkingen |
Ruppersthal is a small wine-growing village in Lower Austria, and like hundreds of Austrian municipalities it issued emergency paper money — Notgeld — during the acute coin shortage that followed the First World War. These local issues were authorized under wartime and post-war necessity, not by the central banking apparatus, and the Gemeinde took on full liability for redemption. Gesellschaft für Graphische Industrie was a Vienna-based printing house that handled a substantial volume of these municipal Notgeld commissions, which explains the consistent quality across many otherwise obscure parish issues.
Ruppersthal's series is among the more modestly documented of the Lower Austrian village issues.
