Lunz am See is a small market town in Lower Austria, and this 10 Heller piece belongs to the broader Austrian Notgeld phenomenon — emergency municipal scrip issued when small-denomination coinage effectively vanished from circulation during and after the First World War. By 1920, most of the more artistically ambitious Notgeld series had already run their course; late issues like this one were functional stopgaps rather than the collectible-oriented releases that characterized 1919 peak production.
