Krieglach, a small market town in Styria, issued emergency paper currency during the coin shortage that gripped Austria following the First World War. These Heller Notgeld pieces were municipal stopgaps — authorized locally to cover the complete disappearance of small-denomination coinage from everyday commerce. The Gemeinde had no printing infrastructure of its own, and most Styrian municipal issues of this type were produced by regional jobbing printers working from simple typeset or lithographic layouts.
The JPR0480c series designation suggests multiple Krieglach issues exist, this being one variant within that grouping — worth noting for collectors tracking the full set.
