Obverse description The central vignette presents a bust portrait of the Styrian writer Peter Rosegger set within an oval frame ornamented with edelweiss blossoms and foliate scrollwork, printed in dark blue-green and black on grey paper. To the left and right, smaller oval vignettes contain figures in traditional Austrian regional costume. The issuer legend 'Gutschein Gemd. Krieglach' arches across the top in stylised Gothic lettering, while the denomination '10 Zehn Heller 10' appears along the lower margin; the note bears the imprint 'II. Auflage' (second edition) at the lower left.

Krieglach, a small market town in Styria, issued emergency paper currency during the coin shortage that gripped Austria following the First World War. These Heller Notgeld pieces were municipal stopgaps — authorized locally to cover the complete disappearance of small-denomination coinage from everyday commerce. The Gemeinde had no printing infrastructure of its own, and most Styrian municipal issues of this type were produced by regional jobbing printers working from simple typeset or lithographic layouts.

The JPR0480c series designation suggests multiple Krieglach issues exist, this being one variant within that grouping — worth noting for collectors tracking the full set.
