正面描述 Plain beige paper note with a decorative typographic border of interlocked chain-link ornaments enclosing all text. The denomination '10 Heller (zehn)' appears in large bold Fraktur type across the upper portion, flanked by a second '10' numeral to the right. Below, the issuer legend 'Gutschein der Gemeinde Kirchheim' is set in gothic script, followed by three columns of small-print text stating the municipality's liability, counterfeiting warning, and validity clause. The Bürgermeister's signature, Leopold Burgstaller, appears in printed script at the foot, preceded by the series letter 'D'.

背面描述 The unadorned pale buff reverse carries a five-line verse in Kurrent-style Fraktur script, centred on an otherwise blank field, serving as an explanatory poem about the necessity of issuing local paper money in place of gold and silver coinage.

备注

Kirchheim notgeld — the small-denomination municipal emergency currency issued across German-speaking Europe between 1914 and 1922 — emerged from the acute coin shortage that followed wartime metal requisitioning. The 10 Heller denomination places this firmly in the Austrian notgeld tradition rather than the German, where Pfennig subdivisions were standard. Kirchheim in Styria was among hundreds of parishes that printed their own fractional paper to keep local commerce moving after silver and copper coins simply disappeared from circulation.

Burgstaller's signature as issuing authority indicates municipal rather than commercial backing — common for Styrian villages of this size and period.
