Obverse description The crowned coat of arms of the Principality of Monaco is centered in the field, displaying the traditional lozengy shield surmounted by a royal crown. The date 1966 appears in the exergue, flanked on either side by the mint marks. The circular legend reads RAINIER III PRINCE DE MONACO along the upper periphery, enclosed within a beaded border.

Reverse description A bare-headed, right-facing bust of Prince Charles III occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and beard, in a classical portrait style. The legend CHARLES III arcs along the upper left periphery, with the regnal dates 1856 · 1889 continuing along the upper right. The engraver's signature DELANNOY appears in small capitals beneath the truncation of the bust, and the denomination 10 FRANCS is inscribed along the lower periphery. The whole is enclosed within a beaded border.
