Obverse description Central field bears the ruler's name and titles in Arabic script arranged in horizontal lines, reading 'Muhammad Al-Nasir Muddat Bey of Tunisia 10 Francs,' with the Islamic (Hijri) date below. The inscription is flanked on either side by a palm frond, the whole design enclosed within a beaded border. The overall composition is typographic rather than portrait-based, reflecting the aniconic tradition of Tunisian coinage of this period.
