| 正面描述 | Left-facing effigy of Marianne wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with an olive branch wreath and a tricolor cockade. The portrait is rendered in high relief in a naturalistic style characteristic of mid-twentieth-century French coinage. The legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE arcs along the upper rim of the field, while the engraver's signature G·GUIRAUD appears below the truncation. |

The Guiraud 10 francs type was introduced in 1950 as France rebuilt its coinage infrastructure after years of wartime disruption and occupation-era substitutes. Essai piéforts — struck at double the standard thickness for die trials and official presentation sets — were produced in small numbers for the Monnaie de Paris archives and select institutional recipients, never entering circulation.
The copper-aluminium alloy specified here was one of several compositions tested during this period as France weighed durability against minting cost. That deliberation alone explains why multiple alloy variants of the Guiraud essai exist.
