| Beschrijving voorzijde | The national coat of arms of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is centrally displayed within a stylized arch-shaped frame. The arms feature a leopard's head facing forward, flanked by a crossed elephant tusk and a spear, with a ribbon below bearing the motto PAIX; two flanking banners carry the legends JUSTICE (left) and TRAVAIL (right). The country name DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO is inscribed in three lines across the upper field, while the date 2009 appears at the lower left and the denomination 10 FRANC at the lower right, all rendered in raised Latin lettering against a matte dark field. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The Democratic Republic of the Congo has issued commemorative coins under this series prolificaly since the late 1990s, licensing well-known artworks for collector appeal with no particular national connection to the subjects depicted. Degas painted several versions of La Classe de danse throughout the 1870s and 1880s — the most famous now hangs in the Musée d'Orsay, acquired by the French state in 1977.
Silver-plated copper rather than sterling means spot value is negligible. Produced purely for the numismatic gift market.
