| Popis rubu | The reverse presents a full-color reproduction of Edgar Degas's celebrated Impressionist painting 'The Ballet Class' (La Classe de danse, c. 1874), enclosed within an ornate decorative frame with floral and scrollwork motifs. The composition depicts a group of young ballet dancers rehearsing in a studio under the supervision of the elderly ballet master Jules Perrot, who stands at center leaning on a cane. The painting, now housed in the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, was executed by Degas approximately one year after the Paris Opéra on the Rue Le Peletier burned down in 1873, and reflects his enduring fascination with the world of dance. The vibrant coloring and fine detail of the original artwork are faithfully rendered through a color application process on the coin's surface. |
