Popis líce	The obverse is dominated by the large numeral '10' in the central field, with the inscription FRANCS positioned immediately below and the date 1976 placed in the exergue. A small lozenge-shaped mint mark device appears above the denomination numeral. The circular legend BANQUE CENTRALE DU MALI runs along the upper periphery, rendered in raised Latin lettering. The whole design is enclosed by a beaded inner border, typical of essai production standards.

Popis rubu	The reverse presents a naturalistic rendering of a sorghum plant in high relief, with drooping panicles heavily laden with seed heads rising from a common base, occupying the central field. The design is framed by a decorative inner border of repeating chevron or zigzag motifs running along the inner rim. The word ESSAI is inscribed in widely spaced capital letters across the lower field, formally designating this piece as a pattern or trial strike. The composition as a whole reflects the agrarian identity and agricultural heritage of Mali.
