Reverse description The reverse displays a frontal view of a West African long-horned antelope (sassaby or topi), its elongated ribbed horns sweeping upward to the rim, flanked symmetrically by sheaves of millet and maize ears rendered in fine relief. A decorative border of stylised seed pods encircles the entire composition. The engravers' signature 'G.B.L. BAZOR' appears in small incised lettering to the lower left of the field. The date of issue is inscribed along the lower exergue between two small decorative dashes, the whole design reflecting the naturalistic yet formal engraving style characteristic of the Monnaie de Paris.
