The Berlioz 10 Francs replaced the Voltaire type in 1972 and ran until the note was demonetized in 1984. Three distinct signature combinations across the series — Vergnes giving way to Tronche in early 1975, then Strohl replacing Morant at the start of 1976 — make date-signature pairings a minor collecting discipline in themselves. The Strohl/Bouchet/Tronche run accounts for most surviving examples given its longer production window.
Fontanarosa designed and Jubert engraved the face; Renaud handled the reverse intaglio work. French banknote production of this period maintained strict in-house engraving through the Imprimerie de la Banque de France at Chamalières, which opened in 1970 specifically to consolidate printing operations previously split across Paris and Vic-le-Comte.
