Obverse description Central cartouche bearing multi-line Arabic inscription naming the ruler Ahmad Muddat Bey of Tunisia and the denomination 10 Francs, with the Hijri date 1348 at the base. The cartouche is framed by an ornamental border, flanked on either side by stylized palm or wheat fronds in low relief. The outer rim is defined by a bold raised beaded or toothed border encircling the entire design. The overall layout follows the traditional format of Tunisian Bey-period coinage, with all legends rendered exclusively in Arabic script. This piece represents an obverse essai (trial strike) with the reverse left intentionally blank.
