| Obverse description | Central field bears four lines of Arabic legend identifying the ruler and denomination, enclosed within an ornate geometric frame of interlaced diamond-shaped chain motifs. Flanking the central inscription are two upward-rising olive or laurel branches, their stems meeting at the base. The Islamic Hijri date 1358 appears prominently at the foot of the design, below the branches. The entire composition is rendered in a traditional Islamic decorative style, without any portrait effigy. The legend reads: Ahmad Pasha Bey of Tunisia, 10 Francs, 1358. |
