| 正面铭文 | RÉPVBLIQVE FRANÇAISE R·JOLY 1970 (Translation: French Republic) |
| 背面描述 | A stylised Melanesian ceremonial mask in left profile occupies the centre of the field, its surface decorated with incised linear and hatched motifs evoking traditional Vanuatu artistic heritage. The mask is flanked on either side by two spiral scroll devices reminiscent of indigenous decorative art. The territorial name NOUVELLES HÉBRIDES arcs around the upper periphery, while the denomination 10 f appears in the lower field below the mask. |

The New Hebrides operated under a Franco-British Condominium — one of history's more dysfunctional colonial arrangements — in which France and Britain jointly administered the archipelago with parallel governments, parallel legal systems, and parallel currencies. This coin was struck for the Franco-British condominium authority by the Paris Mint, filling a gap left by the absence of any unified monetary infrastructure. The condominium was dissolved in 1980 when the islands gained independence as Vanuatu, ending 74 years of dual colonial rule.
