| 表面の説明 | Typeset note with an ornate letterpress-printed border composed of intricate guilloche and foliate scroll work in olive-brown tones, enclosing a central text panel on a lightly tinted ground. The canton arms of Fribourg appear at the top centre within the decorative frame, flanked by the bold denomination numeral '10' repeated on the left and right in cartouches. The lower portion contains ruled lines for the manuscript date, serial number, series designation, and three signature spaces assigned to the Caissier, the Président du Conseil de Surveillance, and the Directeur respectively; a further emission line is printed along the bottom margin. |

| 裏面の説明 | The reverse shows the obverse design visible in full show-through, as the note is printed on a single sheet of thin paper with no independent reverse design; a dense repeating letterpress underprint text covers the entire surface, with the issuer name and canton repeated in a micro-text pattern across the field. |

The Caisse Hypothécaire du Canton de Fribourg was a cantonal mortgage bank, not a commercial institution — its authority to issue circulating notes was always legally awkward under Swiss federal arrangements, and this series reflects that tension. Switzerland's 1881 Bank Note Law placed strict constraints on cantonal issuers, and the Caisse's note-issuing function was wound down as federal consolidation tightened through the 1880s, which accounts for the long nominal span of the series against what was likely a short active circulation window.
The 265 × 105 mm format is unusually elongated even for Swiss cantonal issues of the period.
