A palm branch and additional decorative flourishes frame the escutcheon on either side. The date 1663 appears prominently in the left field. The circular Latin legend around the periphery reads PAR REG HVN D E SICV CO, denoting Apafi's titles as lord of the Hungarian partium and count of the Székelys.
