The effigy occupies the majority of the field, rendered in high relief in the late Renaissance Transylvanian style. A circular beaded inner border frames the design, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery reading MICHA APAFI D G PR TR. The portrait conveys the authority and martial character of the ruling prince. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Elaborately engraved crowned coat of arms of Transylvania displayed at center, incorporating the quartered shield with the Transylvanian eagle, the seven castles of the Saxon towns, and the Székely sun and moon, surrounded by ornate baroque scrollwork and foliate mantling. A palm branch and additional decorative flourishes frame the escutcheon on either side. The date 1663 appears prominently in the left field. The circular Latin legend around the periphery reads PAR REG HVN D E SICV CO, denoting Apafi's titles as lord of the Hungarian partium and count of the Székelys. A beaded border encircles the entire design. |
