Jordan's fils coinage was introduced following the country's monetary reform of 1949, when the Jordan Dinar replaced the Palestinian pound at par. The Central Bank itself wasn't established until 1964, which means the earliest coins in this date range were actually issued under the Jordan Currency Board — a technical distinction the catalog header quietly obscures.
Bronze coinage of this type saw heavy use across both banks of the Jordan River, with the West Bank under Jordanian administration until 1967.
