| 正面描述 | The obverse features a rectangular field dominated by a colorized reproduction of Picasso's 1948 poster artwork 'Affiche Vallauris, faune,' depicting a stylized faun face rendered in the artist's characteristic linear style against a dark background. The artwork is framed within an inner rectangle occupying the left portion of the coin. To the upper right appears the national monogram 'RF' (République Française) in large bold characters, with the cursive Picasso signature reproduced below it in the lower right field. The inscription 'Affiche Vallauris, faune 1948' appears in the lower exergual area, with the copyright legend '© Succession Picasso 2010' along the upper border. |

Issued as part of the Monnaie de Paris's long-running "Grands Hommes" series, this piece commemorates the 2010 centenary — not of Picasso's birth, but of his first sustained period in Paris, which began around 1904 when he settled permanently in Montmartre. By 2010 the series had grown inconsistent in collectibility, and silver issues from this run circulate freely in the secondary market at modest premiums.
Picasso was Spanish-born and never took French citizenship, a fact that made his 1944 public enrollment in the French Communist Party a considerable diplomatic irritant.
