| 背面描述 | The reverse bears a finely engraved interpretation of Édouard Manet's celebrated 1863 painting Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe, faithfully rendered in sculptural relief with exceptional detail. The central composition depicts a nude female figure reclining alongside two fully dressed male companions in a woodland setting, with a second lightly draped female figure wading in the middle ground behind them. A decorative circular cartouche inscribed CHEFS D'ŒUVRE DES MUSÉES with a central star motif appears in the lower field. The inscription LE DÉJEUNER SUR L'HERBE Édouard MANET is engraved along the upper portion of the field within a framed border, and the year 2017 is inscribed at the lower right. |

Issued as part of Monnaie de Paris's long-running "Masterpieces of French Museums" program, this coin commemorates a painting that caused a scandal at the 1863 Salon des Refusés — the exhibition Napoleon III established specifically for work rejected by the official Salon jury. Manet's canvas was not merely rejected; it was publicly mocked, drawing crowds who came to laugh rather than admire.
The .900 fineness places it outside standard French commemorative silver specifications, a deliberate choice for the series to achieve a particular surface quality suited to color application and fine relief reproduction.
