Reverse description The reverse reproduces the design of the historic Spanish colonial 8 Reales (Piece of Eight), centered on the elaborate crowned shield of Castile and León flanked by the Pillars of Hercules with scrolling banners, all encircled by a beaded inner border. A circumferential legend in Latin reads REX*ET*REGINA*CASTELE*LEGIONIS*ARA around the coin type, referencing the Catholic Monarchs. The outer border carries the inscription MONEDAS HISTÓRICAS IBEROAMERICANAS arcing across the top and ENCUENTRO DE DOS MUNDOS · 2010 along the bottom, separated by a ring of raised dots. The Madrid mint mark (M crowned) appears in the right field. The faithful recreation of the colonial coin type in proof finish renders exceptional numismatic and artistic detail.
