| 背面描述 | The reverse presents a dynamic, Cubist-inspired allegorical composition commemorating the centenary of the Deutsche Nationalbibliothek. A stylized female profile in left-facing relief dominates the left portion of the design, her head rendered in a geometric, modernist artistic idiom evoking early 20th-century avant-garde aesthetics. Behind and around the figure, abstract representations of books, architectural elements, binary and typographic sequences — including Latin characters 'ABC' and Hebrew letters 'אבג', as well as binary strings '010010' and '1000110' — fill the field, symbolizing the library's multilingual and multimedia collections. The engraver's initials 'VH' appear in the lower central field. The inscription 'DEUTSCHE NATIONALBIBLIOTHEK' arcs along the upper left, with '100 JAHRE' (100 Years) prominently placed at lower left. |

Issued to mark the centenary of the Deutsche Nationalbibliothek, founded in Leipzig in 1912 at the initiative of the German book trade — not the state — making it unusual among national libraries for its origins in a commercial and professional lobby rather than royal or governmental decree. The Leipzig building alone survived World War II largely intact, while the Frankfurt branch, established in 1946 to collect materials from the postwar western zones, gave the institution its split-city character that persisted through the division of Germany and beyond.
The .625 fineness used across the German commemorative 10-euro silver series was a deliberate cost-containment decision and is notably below the .925 standard common elsewhere in European commemorative coinage.
