Reverse description The reverse features two allegorical theatrical masks in high relief, depicted in profile and facing outward from the centre — one smiling, representing Comedy, and one sorrowful, representing Tragedy — referencing the classical dramaturgy associated with the Burgtheater and the Vienna State Opera. Between the two masks, crossed theatrical or musical attributes are visible, and the Austrian shield appears at the apex of the composition. The arc legend 'WIEDERERÖFFNUNG VON BURG UND OPER' curves along the upper rim, with the year '1955' positioned at the lower right, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the reopening of both institutions following World War II. The engraver's signature 'WÄHNER' is visible in the lower right field.
