The large denomination numeral '10' is formed in part by the characters themselves, with the inscription 'RF' appearing to the right and 'EURO' inscribed along the lower field in bold raised lettering. The entire composition is rendered in high-relief milled proof style without applied color, conveying a lively and humorous artistic character faithful to the original Goscinny and Uderzo illustrations. |

Part of the Monnaie de Paris's long-running series celebrating French cultural icons, this issue marks the 60th anniversary of the Astérix comics franchise, originally launched by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo in the pages of Pilote magazine in October 1959. The series has sold over 385 million albums worldwide, making it among the best-selling Franco-Belgian comics properties ever published.
