正面描述	The obverse features the second royal seal of King Afonso Henriques (1142), the founding monarch of Portugal, rendered in the central field. Surrounding the seal are alternating devices comprising seven castles and five escutcheons, elements drawn directly from the Portuguese national flag. The individual letters spelling PORTUGAL are interspersed among these heraldic charges, forming a circular legend around the central design. An outer ring of twelve stars, representing the nations of the European Union, encircles the entire composition. The mint mark INCM and the year of issue appear within the design.
