| Description du revers | The reverse is divided into two distinct halves: the left half features a coloured, detailed depiction of Archimedes' screw mechanism, rendered with polychrome enamel tones of brown, ochre, and gold highlighting the helical shaft, wooden frame, gearing, and crank handle, evoking the ancient irrigation device. The right half displays a stylised blue-coloured wavy ribbon representing flowing water lifted by the screw, set against a mirror-polished field. A beaded inner border frames the entire design, and the date 2024 appears in the right field. The curved legend ΑΡΧΑΙΑ ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΤΕΧΝΟΛΟΓΙΑ runs along the upper arc, while Ο ΚΟΧΛΙΑΣ ΤΟΥ ΑΡΧΙΜΗΔΗ is inscribed along the right arc, all in Greek characters. |

Part of Greece's long-running "Greek Technology" series, this issue commemorates the water-lifting device attributed to Archimedes following his time in Egypt, likely in the third century BC. Whether Archimedes invented the screw outright or systematized an existing Egyptian mechanism remains genuinely disputed among historians of ancient technology.
The series has drawn consistent collector interest in part because it forces the Greek mint to engage seriously with ancient engineering rather than mythology — a narrower brief that tends to produce more technically interesting designs.
