The "2nd print" designation reflects a reorder placed within the same design authorization, not a revised note. Portugal's monetary position through the 1920s was precarious enough that successive print runs of existing designs were administratively simpler than commissioning new issues. Inflation was chronic, and the escudo itself had only replaced the real in 1911.
