The circular outer legend records the date ANNO DOM MDCXXXI and the word SOLI DEO GLORIA, referencing the Calvinist motto of the prince. The overall design reflects the refined Renaissance medallic tradition prevalent in Transylvanian court coinage of the early seventeenth century. |
