Obverse description Armored and draped bust of Ferdinand III facing right, wearing a large ruffed collar and featuring curly hair; the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece is displayed beneath the effigy. The circumferential legend in Latin reads FERDINAND:III D:G:H:REX, identifying the ruler by name, title, and regal dignity. The portrait is rendered in the elaborate Baroque court style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Habsburg coinage.
