The putto's arms are outstretched, resting upon or gesturing toward each shield. The circular Latin legend MONETA. NOUA. ARGENT: + REIPUB: NORIBERGENSIS. runs around the periphery. The date M·DC·XXVII (1627) appears in the exergue in Roman numerals. The overall design reflects the refined Renaissance workshop style of early seventeenth-century Nuremberg. |

ARCHID: runs around the periphery, identifying the emperor by name and his principal titles.
