| Obverse description | A winged putto (child angel) stands facing in the center of the field, flanked by two heraldic shields: the arms of Nuremberg (an eagle displayed) to the left and right. The putto's arms are outstretched, resting upon or gesturing toward each shield. The circular Latin legend MONETA. NOUA. ARGENT: + REIPUB: NORIBERGENSIS. runs around the periphery. The date M·DC·XXVII (1627) appears in the exergue in Roman numerals. The overall design reflects the refined Renaissance workshop style of early seventeenth-century Nuremberg. |

| Reverse description | An equestrian portrait of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand II depicted in full imperial regalia, mounted on a prancing horse facing left. The emperor is shown in armor with an elaborate flowing cloak, holding a scepter or baton. The circular Latin legend FERDINAND: II. DG. RO - IM: SE AU: GE. H: B: REX. The execution is detailed and of high relief, consistent with the prestigious multiple-ducat issues produced for the Nuremberg city treasury. |
