Aanvullende informatie

Armenia's first post-Soviet coinage series was introduced in 1994, three years after independence, as the dram replaced the Soviet ruble following its collapse. The aluminium alloy chosen for this denomination was a practical concession — the new republic's economy was in crisis, partly due to the ongoing conflict with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh, which had devastated trade and infrastructure since 1988.
