| Rückseitenbeschreibung | The reverse is printed in blue-grey tones and presents, at left and right, two large circular medallions each containing a classical portrait bust in profile: at left a laureate male head facing right, and at right a diademed female head facing left, both executed in a refined intaglio style evoking Greco-Roman antiquity. The central field between the medallions carries the bank name and denomination in French, flanked by repeated numeral underprints, with an ornate foliate cartouche below the denomination. The printer's imprint appears along the lower margin. |

The Privileged Bank of Epirus and Thessaly was chartered in 1882 following the incorporation of these two regions into the Greek state after the Congress of Berlin — territories that had only just been ceded by the Ottoman Empire. The bank held a regional monopoly on note issue, distinct from the National Bank of Greece, reflecting the transitional administrative arrangements applied to the newly acquired provinces.
G. Richard et Cie in Paris were specialists in security printing, and the filigrane watermark construction referenced directly in the firm's name was their primary selling point to sovereign and quasi-sovereign clients. The S101 designation indicates this is among the earliest documented issues for the series.
