| 背面描述 | A finely detailed rabbit, the subject animal of the Chinese lunar zodiac cycle for 1987, is depicted in profile facing right within a raised inner circle at the centre of the field. Above the rabbit, the Chinese cyclical characters 丁卯 denote the sexagenary year designation. Surrounding the inner circle is a broad annular border populated with relief depictions of all twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac arranged in sequence. The denomination legend 10 DOLLARS curves along the lower portion of the border between the inner circle and the rim. |

Singapore's lunar series began in 1974 under the Board of Commissioners of Currency, well before the Monetary Authority of Singapore absorbed issuing responsibilities. The 1987 Rabbit falls mid-series, by which point collector demand had grown substantially across Southeast Asian markets, particularly among the Chinese diaspora communities for whom the twelve-year cycle carried genuine calendar significance rather than purely numismatic interest.
The .500 fine silver specification — unusual against the prevailing international proof standard of .925 — was consistent across Singapore's lunar issues of this period and reflects a deliberate cost-containment decision by the BCCS.
