| 正面描述 | The obverse displays the Singapore Arms of State at center, featuring a shield bearing a crescent moon and five stars, supported by a lion on the left and a tiger on the right, all rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. A ribbon below the shield bears the national motto MAJULAH SINGAPURA in Latin lettering. The legend SINGAPURA arcs across the upper field, with SINGAPORE along the lower periphery; the country name also appears in Chinese characters (新加坡) to the upper right and in Tamil script (சிங்கப்பூர்) to the upper left. The date 1990 is inscribed in the lower field beneath the coat of arms. |

Singapore's lunar series was among the earliest systematic silver proof programs issued by a Southeast Asian central bank, predating similar initiatives from regional neighbors by several years. The 1990 Horse falls in the middle of the MAS's first full twelve-year lunar cycle, which began in 1984 and established the format still used by the authority today. Mintages were tightly controlled and largely absorbed by the Singapore domestic market and overseas Chinese collectors, meaning examples rarely surfaced in Western auction rooms until the 2000s.
