Obverse description The national coat of arms of Singapore occupies the central field, featuring a shield supported by a lion and a tiger, surmounted by a crescent and five stars, with an upward-curving ribbon at the base. Surrounding the arms is a circular legend inscribed in Singapore's four official languages: Malay (SINGAPURA), Chinese (新加坡), English (SINGAPORE), and Tamil (சிங்கப்பூர்). The national motto MAJULAH SINGAPURA appears on the ribbon below the shield. The date 1988 is positioned beneath the coat of arms, and the Singapore Mint mark (SM) is placed between the Chinese and English inscriptions in the upper border.
