| Opmerkingen |
The Chartered Bank was one of the longest-operating British overseas banks in Asia, but by the time this series was printed it had already been absorbed — the 1969 merger with the Standard Bank of South Africa created Standard Chartered, though the Chartered Bank name was retained on Hong Kong note issues for several years afterward while regulatory approvals and brand transitions worked through the system. This note falls squarely in that transitional window.
Thomas De La Rue's production quality for this series was high, but the watermark security was already considered modest by contemporary standards — Hong Kong's note-issuing banks were beginning to push for more sophisticated features by the mid-1970s.
