Obverse description At left, a fine intaglio vignette of the Chartered Bank building is set against a light guilloche underprint, with the bank's heraldic crest bearing the motto 'PARTES PER EOAS' positioned centrally on the face. The issuer's name and the legend 'INCORPORATED BY ROYAL CHARTER 1853' run across the top, flanked by Chinese characters 香港 and the promise-to-pay text. Denomination numeral '10' appears at each of the four corners within decorative border panels.

Reverse description A panoramic intaglio vignette of Hong Kong island and Victoria Harbour extends across the centre of the reverse, rendered against a multicoloured guilloche underprint, with the Ocean Terminal building visible within the composition.
