Liberia's FIFA World Cup commemorative series, issued ahead of the 2006 Germany tournament, was produced by a private minting contractor and sold primarily through telemarketing and home-shopping channels rather than through conventional numismatic distribution. The Paraguay team issue is one of dozens in the set, most struck in silver-plated copper with no meaningful connection to the Liberian monetary system — the face value is nominal and these pieces never circulated.
